We know we’re not supposed to have favorites, but…. we’ve got to admit, SAS alumna Betty Barr holds a very special place in our hearts. And the feeling is mutual. She might have graduated over 70 years ago, but she still makes trips to school, is a regular at graduation ceremonies, and her closest pals are still her high school classmates.
What would you do if you were given dedicated time out of your work or school schedule to focus on something you cared about deeply? Would you finally turn that story idea that’s been floating around in your head into a novel? Transform your unique tech concept into a reality? Or even try your hand at learning a new instrument? This is exactly what our Grade 8 teachers wanted to find out with their students.
The class of 2023 donned caps and gowns this past Sunday for their graduation ceremony at the Shanghai International Dance Center. Joined by their friends, family, and even our favorite alumna Betty Barr, who has attended almost every single SAS graduation for as long as we can remember, these grads accepted their diploma and their new status as SAS alums.
A select group of eighth graders of both the Puxi and Pudong campuses set off for an adventure of a lifetime as Microcampus 8 finally made a comeback after a hiatus due to Covid-19. Armed with enthusiasm and a thirst for exploration, these young explorers stepped out of their comfort zones to immerse themselves in the rich culture of the Naxi and Bai ethnic minorities in Xizhou, Yunnan Province.
