A Bluedot Favorite App: Merlin Bird ID

“My new favorite thing is an app where you can track birds you see and hear,” enthused Julia Cooper, Bluedot’s Digital Production Coordinator and Good Libations columnist, about Cornell University’s popular Merlin app.

“When the app is open, it will identify the birdsongs it picks up. A friend described it saying ‘you can collect the birds you see and hear like Pokémon.’” Julia admits she’s never really been a birder, “but I'm loving learning more through the app — it's just so easy and fun.”
